WORKFLOW ACTIONS

What you can configure.

Choose an action in the workflow builder, connect an account, and map its inputs. These actions are available in the catalog; your account access and a successful test determine whether they work for your setup.

Get Snowflake statement

Read

Read a statement's status and a page of its results by handle.

Permissions and limits

Account permissions

  • The role that ran the statement

Insert Snowflake rows

Write

Insert one or more rows; column names come from the rows and every value is bound.

Permissions and limits

Account permissions

  • INSERT on the table

Operation limits

  • Table and column names must be plain identifiers; Snowflake stores them upper case.
  • A lost answer is uncertain and never resent.

A repeated request may repeat the external action. Review the previous result before retrying a write.

Run Snowflake SQL

Write

Run one SQL statement, with ? placeholders bound to values, and return its first page of rows.

Permissions and limits

Account permissions

  • The Snowflake role's privileges for the statement

Operation limits

  • The step's idempotency key is the requestId, so Snowflake treats a repeated request as the same one. A lost answer is still uncertain and never resent.
  • A statement still running after the timeout returns its handle with status running; read it with Get Snowflake statement.
  • Only the first result partition is returned.

A repeated request may repeat the external action. Review the previous result before retrying a write.

Update Snowflake rows

Write

Set columns on the rows whose key column equals a value; every value is bound.

Permissions and limits

Account permissions

  • UPDATE on the table

Operation limits

  • Every row whose key column equals the value is updated.
  • A lost answer is uncertain and never resent.

A repeated request may repeat the external action. Review the previous result before retrying a write.

SETUP

Start with a controlled test.

01Connect the intended account

Use the account and permissions required for your process. Review the connection check before configuring a workflow action.

02Review inputs and access

Select a listed operation and map its required inputs. Use test records and add a human approval before writes that need review.

03Confirm the result

Inspect step outputs and confirm the result in Snowflake. A saved workflow is not a completed provider action.
